A number of countries have taken action in barring the Boeing 737 Max 8 airbus from their airline operations following the Sunday crash that killed 157 people.

China was the first country to call off the operations of Boeing on Monday.

Chinese Civil Aviation administration cited issues of the planes sharing similarities as that of Ethiopia and the Lion Air crash in Indonesia, which occurred in October 2018 killing 189 people on board.

Countries grounding Boeing 737

“Given that the two accidents involved newly delivered Boeing 737-8 planes, and happened during the take off phase suggests some similarities between them,” said the China Civil Aviation Administration.

According to AP news, here are the countries that have grounded or barred the Boeing 737 Max 8;

– China

– Ethiopia

– Singapore

– Indonesia

– Morocco

– Mongolia

– Malaysia

– Australia

– Oman

– Britain

The October crash became a focus of intense interest and debate in aviation circles because of the fact that pilots did not need to be informed about a change introduced to the 737’s flight control system.

The company was trying to minimize the costs of retraining pilots, leaving the Lion Air crew without full understanding of how to address the any malfunction that could have contributed to the deadly crash.

The Ethiopian crash happened at 08;44 local time, killing 149 passengers and 8 crew members who had just left Ethiopia for Nairobi.
