Kenyan marathoner Sabastian Sawe has made a new record at the 2026 London Marathon.

Sawe became the first man to run a marathon in under two hours, breaking the world record with a time of 1:59:30.
He broke the world record of 2:00:35 held by the late athlete Kelvin Kiptum.
According to the BBC Sports, Sawe said he started the race and finished it strongly.
“We started the race well, and approaching the end of finishing the race I was feeling strong. I am so happy,” he said.
He was closely followed by the Ethiopian runner, Yomif Kejelcha, who debuted in the marathon and became the second-fastest all-time runner in 1:59:41.

Ugandan Jacob Kiplimo finished third with 2:00:28 as Kenyan Amos Kipruto became the sixth all-time record holder in 2:01:39.

How women athletes performed in London Marathon
Ethiopian Tigst Assefa broke her own record, setting a new women’s world record with a time of 2:15:41.
Assefa edged her Kenyan rivals Hellen Obiri and Joyciline Jepkosgei.
