Kenya has reported about 7 Coronavirus cases since the viral
flu outbreak in the country, with the ministry of health confirming there could
be more.

President Uhuru Kenyatta issued a directive to all sectors
of the economy to observe measures ranging from social distance and hygiene, in
a bid to curb the spread of the COVID-19 world pandemic.

The message sent Kenyans all over the country to
supermarkets and stalls looking for sanitizers, set to maintain hygiene and
fight the novel coronavirus.

It is barely a week and supermarkets have fallen short of handwashing
gels or sanitizers stock, with some reported cases of the products price hike
and hoarding.

However, Kenyans should not worry because they have what it
takes to sterilize their hands during this difficult times.

News 9 Kenya takes you through simple steps of making
sanitizers at the comfort of your home –all you need is Aloe Vera gel, Lemon
Juice and isopropyl or rubbing alcohol (99 percent alcohol volume)

The key to making an effective, germ-busting hand sanitizer
is to stick to a 2:1 proportion of alcohol to aloe vera, which keeps the
alcohol content around 60 percent –the minimum amount needed to kill most germs,
writes healthline.

With 3/4 cup of isopropyl, 1/4 cup of aloe vera gel and 10
drops of lemon juice you are set to come up with a hand sanitizer.

Pour all ingredients into a bowl, ideally one with a pouring
spout like a glass measuring container.

Mix with a spoon and then beat with a whisk to turn the
sanitizer into a gel.

Pour the ingredients into an empty bottle for easy use, and
label it –there you have a hand sanitizer ready to use.
