Kenya has four more confirmed cases of Coronavirus bringing
the national toll to 42.

Speaking during a briefing at Harambee House, Cabinet
Secretary for Health Mutahi Kagwe revealed that among the 24 analyzed samples,
four tested positive for Covid-19.

One is Kenyan while three are foreigners, one American, another
from Cameroon and another from Burkina Faso.

Three of the confirmed cases are from Nairobi while the other
is from Mombasa. Out of the 42 positive cases, 24 are male while 18 are female.Nairobi is leading in the confirmed cases with 31 people testing positive;6 are from Kilifi, Mombasa has 3 people infected while Kwale and Kajiado counties each have one case of Coronavirus.

Kagwe said that, “Tracing of contacts is ongoing and 1426
contacts are under monitoring. 215 people have been discharged after completing
the mandatory 14-day quarantine period.”

He also added that, “Approximately 1000 people are under monitoring.”

The CS went ahead to explain that mass testing of people who
arrived in the country last week and under quarantine is underway based on
arrival dates. “Anyone who tests
positive will be taken to isolation facilities set aside by the government.”

Kagwe has also urged politicians to stop misinforming the
public. Responding to a post making rounds on social media about a politician
saying that over 7,000 people are under quarantine, the CS revealed that it is
fake news. He said, “There are 2050 people under mandatory quarantine in 14
designated hotels and government facilities.”

He also reminded Kenyans that the fight against Coronavirus
is both an individual and community responsibility, urging employers to release
employers early to meet the curfew set in place. If that is not the case, then
the “employers should provide accommodation for their staff.”
