NAIROBI, Kenya – About 100 children at the Nairobi Children Rescue Centre have received essential items needed in their daily lives.

The Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) donated the items worth KSh 500,000 to support the centre in its daily operations.
Speaking during the handover ceremony on Thursday, October 15, KPA CEO Capt. William Ruto, represented by Manager Corporate Communication, Mr Dave Jones Buchere, said the initiative demonstrates KPA’s collective responsibility to nurture, protect and empower children who need care, guidance and an environment that enables them to thrive.
“Our Corporate Social Investment (CSI) programme supports the vulnerable members of our communities. We believe that giving less fortunate children an equal chance to that of their peers is an investment in the future of this nation.
“With the support of the Lab Vet Sports Club, the Nairobi Children Rescue Centre was selected to benefit from a CSI donation of Kenya Shillings Five Hundred Thousand (KSh 500,000), for essential items that will bring the children some comfort in their daily lives,” said Ruto.
The CEO noted that KPA’s CSI Policy, aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), focuses on health, education, sports, environment, humanitarian aid, water and sanitation, women and youth empowerment, arts and culture, and local social infrastructure.
The Nairobi Children Rescue Centre Head, Ms Margaret Kagwiria, expressed gratitude to KPA for its continued support, noting that the donation would significantly ease some of the challenges involved in caring for the children.
VetLab Golf Club General Manager Mr Shem Orwenio thanked KPA for always giving support to the needy communities before its corporate golf tournaments
