Kirinyaga County Governor Ann Waiguru has withdrawn her push to sue Hip Hop artist King Kaka, barely a week after she wrote a letter to him demanding an apology over what she termed defamation in the new piece of art Wajinganyinyi.

In a twit seen by News 9 Kenya, the governor said owing to a
couple of events following her move to file a defamatory suit against King Kaka,
she has decided to stop any proceedings.

“Having watched the antics of #kingkaka in the last couple
of days with reports of fake assassination attempts and DCI summons, I
recognize that he’s a confused attention seeking young man. I have therefore
made the decision not to proceed with the Kingkaka suit.” Read part of the
governors twit.

She continued to twit, “It is unfortunate when talented youth
are taken advantage of by some politicians and used to settle political
scores. As I have chosen in previous
occasions of this nature, I will contend
with their masters.”

On Manday, County boss through lawyer Paul Kiragu Wathuta, accused
the musician of uttering allegations and innuendos against her.

She claimed that song propagated via social media, caused
gross misrepresentation of facts and deliberate misrepresntation of her
conduct.

Part of the lyrics that the governor cited to be defamatory
in her letter read:

“Ati Waiguru ako kwa
office na story ya NYS tulishasahau

Biro moja alibuy 8
thao, biro tunanunuanga mbao

Either sisi ndio
wajinga ama ako na marking scheme ya Accau…”

Having watched the antics of #kingkaka in the last couple of days with reports of fake assassination attempts and DCI summons, I recognize that he’s a confused attention seeking young man. I have therefore made the decision not to proceed with the Kingkaka suit.
