Thieves broke into a church in Sagana, Kirinyaga County, making away with items worth over KSh 200,000.
Members of the church were baffled to find their musical instruments stolen. Addressing journalists, they could not hold back their profound outrage, narrating how they walked into the church compound and found a mess.
The daring thieves also left with cash belonging to the church and the incident has been reported to the police.
” Asubuhi tulipata vyombo zote za kanisa zimebebwa , tukashangaa na tulienda tuka report.Sasa tunaomba wale walichukua vyombo zetu waturudishie tu tafadhali,” the pastor stated.
One church member added,
“Tulipigiwa simu tutaambiwa mashini za kanisa zimeibiwa , wakati tulikuja tutapata kweli zimeibiwa na tukaenda tutapiga ripoti kwa polisi ya Sagana na sahi wanafanya uchunguzi wao.”

They urged the thieves to return the musical instruments, saying the unspeakable act was disrespectful to God.
” Hawa watu wameiba vitu vya kanisa na watu hata hawaogopi Mungu.Tunaomba hawa watu wajaribu warudishe izo mashini ili wabadilishe maisha yao juu Mungu labda anataka kuwaleta kanisani ili waeze kubadilika,” a church member pointed out.
A trend of thieves stealing from churches
Early this month, several churches within Nairobi County had to increase the number of security guards following a serious series of thefts of church property.
Church leaders stated that thieves have formed a habit of going to churches on Sundays pretending to be new worshipers before snatching handbags, bibles, and mobile phones from attendees and walking out.
” Thieves are no longer ashamed of their sinful acts, and that is why they will easily sneak into a church, where people are worshiping God, and then proceed to steal. Instead of coming to church to seek salvation, they are coming to steal and condemn themselves,” one leader stated.
A church member narrated how he was conned by a woman inside a church service when she asked him to assist her with his mobile phone because she desperately needed to call a relative.
” The woman stepped out as if to make a phone call, never came back to date,” Elder Dan narrated.
He asked church members to be their brother’s keepers and be wary of the person sitting next to them during a church service.
