NAIROBI, Kenya – Marakwet West MP Timothy Kipchumba has taken issue with Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei over his recent remarks on the abduction of Kenyans in the neighbouring countries.
Taking to his official social media platforms, the MP termed Cherargei’s remarks as disturbing.

“The sentiments by the Nandi Senator, my friend @scherargei, on the recent abductions and subsequent torture of Kenyans by the despotic regimes of Museveni and Suluhu are not only archaic, but deeply disturbing and unsettling,” said the MP.
What exactly did Senator Samson Cherargei say
Speaking during a church service in Kapsabet, Senator Cherargei asked President Yoweri Museveni (Uganda) and his Tanzanian counterpart,
Samia Suluhu Hassan is to deal with any Kenyan activist found in their countries.
“If you find any busybody activists who want to destabilise the peace and tranquillity of your countries, deal with them, then deport them to Kenya so that we can finish them,” said the senator.

But in a quick rejoinder, MP Kpicumba, elected on an independent ticket, said the senator’s sentiments border on national embarrassment.
“The Nandi senator has a moral and patriotic obligation to withdraw his sentiments and apologise to Kenyans,” he added.
Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni, for the first time, acknowledged that two Kenyan activists who were missing in his country for five weeks had been arrested.
Why Bob Njagi and Nicholas Oyoo were detained in Uganda
News of their release was confirmed on Saturday, November 8, 2025, but up to that point, the authorities had denied that they were being detained.
Museveni referred to the two men as “experts in riots” who had been “in the fridge for some days” during a live interview on Saturday night.
