The country is on high alert this week with much
anticipation that the state will ease restrictions on movement in and outside
Nairobi County.

President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to address the public,
a month after extending the cessation of movement directives issued to curb the
spread of coronavirus in the country.

However, recent statistics shows that Nairobi county has
been recording a daily high in the tally for the Covid-19 cases.

From the data recorded in the last 24 hours, the ministry of
health recorded 99 new coronavirus cases in Nairobi.

Speaking during the daily Covid-19 update at Afya House
Nairobi, Health CAS Dr. Rashid Aman said out of the 99 cases, 24 are from Dagoretti
North, Starehe (16); Westlands (15); Embakasi East (13); Kibra (7); Makadara
(5); Kasarani (4); Lang’ata (3); Embakasi Central (2); Dagoretti North,
Embakasi South, Mathare and Roysambu 1 each.

The cases add up to 176 cases recorded across the country, bringing
the total number of infections to 6,366.

Other cases are from Mombasa 20, Kiambu 17, Migori 13, Uasin
Gishu 10, Kajiado 4, Busia 4, Kilifi 3, Makueni 2, Machakos 1, Narok 1,
Kakamega 1 and Kisumu 1.

On Monday, Nairobi county had 67 cases of infection, on
Sunady 127 cases while on Saturday the county recorded 171 cases of the total
daily Covd-19 tally.

The 176 cases come from 2,419 samples tested within
the last 24 hours, bringing the total sample count to 169,836 since March.

The Number of fatalities has also grown to 148 after four
more patients succumbed to the disease.

Meanwhile, 26 patients were discharged as at Tuesday bringing
total number of recoveries to 2,039.

A statement from the National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi
has reiterated that only two lawmakers tested positive for Covid-19, with one
of them having been discharged, amid speculated reports that 6 MPs tested
positive.

“I wish to note that, as of today, June 30, 20120, far from
the speculations reported in the media and elsewhere, information available to
the Office of Speaker indicate that, we have two cases of the virus that have
been reported among Members of Parliament,” Muturi said in a statement.
