Nairobi, Kenya – The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has begun to sensitise owners of motor vehicles across the country about the new digital registration of logbooks.

NTSA announced plans to launch e-logbook registration for car owners across the country in June 2026.
“As part of this ongoing digital transformation, the Authority is pleased to announce plans to replace the current paper-based Certificate of Registration (logbook) with a secure, convenient digital version (eLogbook). This transition marks a major milestone in the Authority’s commitment to providing efficient, paperless, and citizen-centred services,” NTSA said.
NTSA said the eLogbook will be fully integrated into all motor vehicle registration processes, which include new vehicle registration, transfer of ownership, change of particulars inspection, and other related transactions. Vehicle owners will access, view, download, and verify their digital logbooks through the eCitizen platform at their convenience.
Why NTSA is launching e-logbook registration
According to the authority, the new e-logbook registration will:
- Improved Efficiency: Faster processing times and reduced administrative delays.
- Enhanced Security: Reduced risk of document forgery, loss, or tampering through advanced digital safeguards.
- Greater Convenience: Easy online access for vehicle owners, insurance companies, financial institutions, and
relevant stakeholders. - Better Data Management: Real-time, accurate records to support traffic enforcement, insurance verification, and road
safety initiatives, among others.
The new system is aimed at reducing NTSA service delivery timelines from an average of 3–7 days to same-day or instant service, eliminating unnecessary bureaucracy, minimising physical visits to NTSA offices, enhancing transparency, reducing opportunities for corruption, and significantly improving the user experience for the public.
NTSA e-logbook trainings
NTSA organised virtual training sessions and demonstrations aimed at highlighting the new development and enabling motor vehicle owners to familiarise themselves with the enhanced service processes on the eCitizen platform.
The sensitisation sessions begin on May 25, 2026 and end on June 4, 2026.
In a public notice seen by News Nine, the authority invited all car owners and stakeholders to register for the virtual training sessions via its website on or before Wednesday, May 20, 2026.
