Deputy President Dr. William Ruto has called on political
leaders to put away their political differences and combine efforts in
uplifting the living standards of all Kenyans.

Speaking during a meeting with leaders from Taita Taveta
County, the Deputy President said the country needs to regain its economic stability,
despite the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and this can be achieved through
political goodwill.

“Our country’s economic recovery will require that leaders
combine their efforts with a common purpose. We must break all political
barriers, team up and put together ideas and resources to help uplift the
living standards of the millions of Kenyans who are struggling at the lower end
of the wealth pyramid,” said Dr. Ruto.

The Wednesday meeting saw leaders led by MPs Naomi Shaban
(Taveta), Jones Mlolwa (Voi), Lydia Haika (Taita Taveta), former Governor John
Mruttu and Joyce Lay (Former Taita Taveta Women Rep.) attend.

The country lost its economic stability for the first time
since 2008, owing to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

However, political leaders have been on the run instigating
their differences in battle to the 2022 election race.

It all begun with the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI), a
move that has sparked rift in the ruling party(jubilee).

The differences have caused scuffles raising political
temperatures a head of the 2022 election campaigns, raising fear over economic
recovery in the face of the pandemic.

The country’s total case load now stands at 96,139 with the
total number of samples tested scaling
to 1,038,352.
