A week after Kandara Member of Parliament Alice Wahome made
remarks over President Uhuru Kenyatta’s future in politics, fresh clamor has
emerged between the Tanga Tanga and Kieleweke factions.
It all started at Kenol town, Murang’a County, with a
section of Wahome clashing with rival groups, a drama that escalated to fist
fighting.
Led by Alex Mbote, the Kieleweke group stormed a meeting held
by Wahome supporters, saying that they will not allow the Tanga Tanga group to tarnish
the name of the president, who is the regions kingpin.
“We have given team tanga tanga time to crisscross the
county but we are not going to give them space anymore,” said Mbote.
The Tanga Tanga faction on the other hand, claimed that the
MP’s remarks are a representation of the thoughts of a common mwananchi.
“We are angry when we see the MP being attacked because
she had done nothing wrong, she just spoke her mind,” said Laban Thuo, who
led MP Wahome supporters.
Thuo added that those criticizing Wahome do not have the
interests of the people at heart, but aim to please their masters.
