Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu defend his administration over audit report

The County Government of Kiambu has been on the look over Sh 2 billion shillings allotted to State activities, according to the Auditor General report.

And on Sunday, Governor Ferdinand Waititu tried to clear his name from the scandal, accusing his political rivals.

Speaking at All Saints Catholic Church in Githunguri, where he accompanied DP William Ruto, Governor Waititu said he fear no one but God, and he will make it through.

“All this you are seeing is because I am in team Tanga Tanga. But I want to say I am a Christian and I have been through a lot and God always sees me through. I only fear God and hot porridge,” said Waititu.

Ruto also defended Waititu urging Kiambu residents to be lenient on their governor and engage him on county issues alone.

“Baba Yao (Waititu) should not be left to carry a cross that is not his. He should be asked about Kiambu, and we, about the national government,” said Ruto.

Leaders and residents have been on the governors neck since the report surfaced on Thursday, calling on his resignation.

On Saturday, Deputy Governor James Nyoro on Saturday dared Waititu to explain the Sh2 billion in question was spent, warning that the county risked losing Sh10 billion budgetary allocation from Central Bank if it failed to account for funds.

“The claims by the governor that he does not know how the allocations found their way in to the documents are untrue since he ought to have gone through the documents before signing them,” he said.

The activities said to be funded by the Kiambu budget, according to the audit report, include allocations for coordination of State House functions, South Sudan peace, free primary education and payments of retired presidents.
