Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa has been freed on a Sh4 million cash bail, after spending four nights in police custody.

The embattled Member of Parliament was charged over murder case alongside his security aide Geoffrey Okuto Otieno

The duo returned to court on Friday morning for a ruling on their bail applications after denying murder charges following their arraignment in court on Thursday.

Mr. Otieno has also been freed on a Ksh.1million cash bail or a surety of a similar amount.

Alongside the bail, Jumwa has been asked by the court to surrender his passport and other travel documents.

The prosecution on Thursday asked for more time to file an affidavit supporting its decision to oppose granting bail to the accused on Thursday Jumwa and Okuto denied any involvement in the killing of Ngumbao Jola, a 48-year-old-man, who was murdered in chaos that ensued during campaigns for a by-election in Ganda Ward in Malindi on October 15, 2019.

This is the second bail issued on the case after they were released on a Sh500,000 cash bail each in 2019.
