National assembly speaker Justine Muturi has reserved his
comments on BBI report, saying that doing so will be prejudicial.

Speaking in Kemera ward, Manga sub county, Nyamira County
during a funds drive in aid of Ekerubo catholic church, the speaker cited
larger public interest for his restraint.

According to Muturi, the report is yet to be tabled in
parliament to necessitate appropriate input from members of the parliament.

Nyamira senator Okong’o Omogeni called for conclusion of the
on-going BBI consultative meetings countrywide to pave way for a referendum.

Also speaking at the same event, Borabu MP Ben Momanyi
claimed that the locals supported the BBI report with zest because it has an
agenda to execute.

He said the launch of the first consultative meeting in
Kisii had a lot of significance attached to it adding that leaders who opposed
the initiative will have themselves to blame.

But North Mugirango legislator Joash Nyamoko expressed his
displeasure with those pressing for creation of regional governments within the
BBI recommendations.

Nyamoko claimed that the suggestion was being pushed by some
governors serving their last term.

He further alleged that governors wanted to create positions
for themselves and vowed to oppose it.
