Middlesbrough have appointed Neil Warnock as their new boss
after sacking Jonathan Woodgate.
Neil takes charge with just eight games remaining to the end
of the season as the Boro sits outside relegation with on goal difference.
The club takes the decision just three days after Boro’s home
defeat to Swansea City, following the first fixture back after a three-month coronavirus
break.
Reports shows that, Steve Gibson had earlier publicly backed
Woodgate, romising him his “full support”.
Warnock has been lined up and will take charge immediately
today, preparing the players for the crucial game at Stoke on Saturday.
Woodgate led the Teesside to nine wins in his 38 games in
charge, with his side drawing 14 games and losing 15.
His ouster comes a little over a year after his appointment,
which he has used to describe himself as the “proudest man on
Teesside”.
Warnock next task will be against Stock City on Saturday,
who sits two points above them.
The championship returned back on June 17, after a long
break following the coronavirus pandemic.
