Dip in form Liverpool’s forward Mohamed Salah gave a controversial statement during a post-match interview in December 2025.

The former Blues player said that the media is not being objective about his slump in form. Salah used former Tottenham Hotspur player Harry Kane analogy to explain why the media is not treating his case fairly.
The Egyptian footballer stated that when Harry Kane went for several games without scoring a goal, the media defended him.
“Can I give an example? It is silly, but I’m sorry. I remember a while ago, Harry Kane was not scoring for 10 games, and everyone in the media was like, ‘Oh, Harry will score, sure’. But when it comes to Mo, everyone is like, ‘he needs to be on the bench. ‘ I am sorry, Harry!” Salah lamented.
Is he right about Kane’s record?
Mohamed Salah, who has built an effortless career since joining Liverpool in 2017, wasn’t happy with the way his significant contributions at Anfield seem to be forgotten easily.
This included his hard-to-break record of having more goals and assists than any other player in the English Premier League since he joined.
Liverpool’s forward made suggestions that he is being made a scapegoat for his team’s recent poor performance. However, football analytics do not agree with the player’s remarks.
The analytics said Harry Kane has never gone past six consecutive games without registering a goal, something they believe makes Salah’s “10 matches” figure accurate.
Salah’s days of glory
Salah has been a crucial player when Liverpool needed consistency to win big trophies like the Champions League and the English Premier League.
He has scored 250 goals out of his 420 appearances for Liverpool across all competitions as of late 2025, making him a football powerhouse.
In the Premier League alone, Salah has registered 186 goals out of 293 appearances. In the Championship League, the Liverpool forward has scored 46 goals out 76 games, a tournament that they won in 2019.
In the FA cup games, the former Blues player has scored 6 goals out of 12 games. His goal-scoring abilities have been witnessed in other competitions like the League Cup and the Europa League.
Mohamed Salah is expected to lead his Egyptian national team to play in the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations.
