The Nairobi Polo Club roared back to life this past weekend as the Kenya Open 6-Goal Polo Tournament took center stage, drawing fans, fashionistas and thrill-seekers to its lush green grounds.

What unfolded was not just a display of galloping horses and swinging mallets, but a lifestyle experience where sport, elegance and entertainment blended seamlessly.

The two-day event was a spectacle from start to finish. Guests arrived early, some in wide-brimmed hats and stylish sunglasses, ready to soak up the sun while sipping on perfectly chilled drinks. Others came dressed to impress in chic jumpsuits, flowing sundresses and bold fashion statements that turned the tournament into an impromptu runway. The sunny weather added to the charm, making this the ultimate Nairobi weekend plan.

This year marked the fifth consecutive year that Tusker Malt – Kenya Breweries Limited’s flagship premium beer has sponsored the tournament. Far from being just a logo on a banner, Tusker Malt has turned polo sponsorship into an immersive cultural experience. By pairing the elegance of the game with a premium beer moment, the brand is drawing in a fresh, younger audience that might otherwise never have set foot at a polo ground.

“This is more than just polo,” an event organizer said with a smile.

“It’s about celebrating culture, creativity and craftsmanship. The horses are the stars, but the fans, the fashion and the music make this a festival.”

Tusker Malt’s presence was impossible to miss. The brand’s stand was buzzing with activity, featuring mounted craft rooms where local creatives showcased their work and visitors got to explore the malt brewing process up close. It was an experience that mixed learning with fun , guests could see the artistry behind the beer they were sipping while supporting local talent.

The matches themselves did not disappoint. Cheers and gasps rang out as players raced across the field, leaning out of their saddles for daring shots and last-minute goals. The energy was electric, with fans cheering for every strike, clash of mallets and dramatic finish.

But the weekend was about more than competition , it was a social event, a chance for Nairobi’s vibrant crowd to network, unwind, and be seen. From couples enjoying picnics on the grass to groups of friends sharing laughs over chilled Tusker Malt, the Nairobi Polo Club felt like the place to be.

The Kenya Open 6-Goal also served as the perfect curtain-raiser for a busy polo season ahead. Fans can now mark their calendars for the Kenya Open 10-Goal Tournament from September 19 to 21, where more teams, higher stakes and intense rivalries promise edge-of-your-seat action.

Then, in early October, the excitement will go international with the Lagos Incoming Tour International (October 3–5). This much-anticipated tournament will bring together top players from across Africa and beyond for a truly global showdown on Kenyan soil , an event that promises even more glamour and adrenaline.

As the sun set on Sunday evening and the final chukkas were played, the Nairobi Polo Club grounds buzzed with contented chatter. Fans lingered, taking photos and sharing memories, reluctant to let the weekend end.

One thing was clear: this was more than just sport. The Kenya Open 6-Goal showed that polo is fast becoming a cultural moment in Nairobi a place where sports enthusiasts, fashion lovers and lifestyle seekers come together to create unforgettable weekends.
