The leading telecommunications company stated it will carry out scheduled maintenance on the M-Pesa system to enhance its services.

Fuliza is an overdraft facility operating under M-Pesa, allowing customers to pay for goods, send money, and complete transactions when they run out of cash.

When will Safaricom maintain Fuliza systems?

In a customer notice seen by News Nine, the company said maintenance of the overdraft facility is scheduled for Monday, November 17, 2025.

“We are continually improving our platform to enhance our services, connecting you, our customers, with more innovations and an even better experience. To support this and fulfil our promise to offer always-on, safe, secure, and worry-free financial products and services, we will be conducting a scheduled system upgrade on the Fuliza platform on Monday, 17 November 2025, from 0100 hrs to 0200 hrs,” read the Safaricom notice in part.

The Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE)-listed firm said that during the maintenance period, all Fuliza services will be intermittent.

All other M-PESA services, including sending money, withdrawals, buying credit, and paying bills, will remain available as usual.

The company noted that the timing of this maintenance activity has been planned to cause minimal inconvenience to customers.

It apologised for any inconvenience that may be caused and thanked subscribers for their continued support.

Has Safaricom maintained the M-PESA system?

In September 2025, Safaricom announced a scheduled system upgrade for its M-PESA platform that would temporarily disrupt services.

The company said the exercise is part of its efforts to enhance service reliability and security for millions of customers across Kenya.

The changes came as the company celebrated 18 years of M-PESA services, transforming lives across Kenya and connecting customers to opportunities every day.

The leading mobile money service platform boasts over 30 million subscribers in Kenya, and more than 70 million users across the world.
