Nairobi, Kenya– Doosan Construction Equipment has rebranded and transformed into Develon.

The move marked a significant milestone in the company’s history, conveying the brand’s commitment to ‘Develop Onward’, bringing in innovative solutions for exceptional equipment and services to customers.

The event attracted various leaders, stakeholders, partners, and esteemed guests in the field of construction.

General Manager of Car & General Trading Limited, Srinivas Devarakonda, said the transformation shows the company’s commitment to technological innovation for sustainable service.

“Our transformation into Develon represents a bold step towards the future. This rebranding isn’t just about a new name; it’s about embracing innovation, sustainability, and an unwavering commitment to our customers’ success.

“As the appointed sole distributors of Develon equipment in Kenya, we (Car & General Trading Limited} assure our customers that despite the rebrand, its core values and expertise stay true to providing the best-in-class construction equipment. The new name is global and will be applied to all new equipment and dealerships, “,” said Devarakonda.

Car & General Trading Limited, a subsidiary of Car & General Kenya PLC, a company listed on the Nairobi Securities Exchange since 1950 has been the dealer of DEVELON equipment in East Africa since 2013.

What customers should expect from Develon?

The company holds franchises for other world-class products including TVS motorcycles, Cummins power generators, Piaggio three-wheelers, Toyota forklifts, and Kubota tractors, among others.

“Develon is under Korea’s conglomerate HD Hyundai group which is the 9th largest company in Korea. The company is growing fast as demonstrated by the growth in revenue- with 2020 as the year that the company recorded revenue of USD 60 billion (KSh 9.2 trillion in a year.

“Develon falls under one of the three pillars of the HD Hyundai group business, which is construction equipment. The brand has changed its name from Doosan to Develon, but it remains the same and maintains the high quality as promised to our customers, as they are the key drivers of our growth.  Our customers should expect more high-tech equipment such as the upcoming electronic excavator among others in 2028, said Develon’s Global Vice President, Edward Chung.

Architect Nancy Milgo lauded HD Hyundai Group on the rebrand saying the National Construction Authority congratulates the move and the promise to ‘Develop onwards’ which aligns with NCA strategic plan for 2025.

“This promise beckons all of the industry players to develop together towards an automated future. Automation is the future in construction, and Develon has made a significant step through its equipment. We congratulate you,” said Milgo.
