William Ruto promises additional 300,000 foreign jobs for Kenyans after securing 2,500 nursing jobs in Saudi

Kenyans who are in a vicious unemployment circle have received a message of hope from Statehouse spokesperson Hussein Mohammed.

In a tweet seen by News 9 Kenya, Hussein announced that President William Ruto’s administration will secure an additional 310,000 job opportunities in the Diaspora.

How many foreign jobs has Ruto secured for Kenyans?

He said the job opportunities are pegged on the ongoing bilateral labour agreement between Kenya and four foreign nations.

The agreement promises about 250,000 jobs in Germany, and 30,000 agriculture jobs in Israel, with 3,000 ready by March this year. 20,000 construction jobs in Serbia and 10,000 jobs in Russia.

2500 nursing and healthcare positions in Saudi Arabia are now open for qualified Kenyans, a result of President @WilliamsRuto's efforts in engaging with international partners & negotiating frameworks to connect Kenyans with employment opportunities.

This came after Kenya secured a total of 2,500 healthcare slots in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, inviting eligible nurses to apply.

Hussein stated that Kenya will be a competitive source of skilled, professional and semi-skilled labour under the watch of President Ruto.

On January 2 2024, The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection in a statement affirmed Kenya female healthcare workers will be employed as general nurses and health assistant professionals in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia under a contract of 2- years.

Saudi nursing jobs salary

The contract is renewable with a minimum monthly salary raging between KSh 92,000 and KSh 147, 000 based on academic levels.

In an 8-hour shift, Degree holders will get a hefty pact of  3,5000.00 SAR ( closely Ksh. 47,000) monthly salary whereas Diploma holders will pocket 3,000.000 SAR (roughly Ksh .126,000). 2,2000.00 SAR ( about  Ksh .92, 000) is a figure to be massaged monthly by Certificate holders.

Fortunately, workers are also guaranteed round air tickets and overtime under Saudi Arabia Laws.

In that statement, The ministry stated that those slots are only eligible to those who are between 22 years old and 35 years.

The following are the requirements for those who are  interested:

1. Be a Kenyan Citizen

2. Must be Female

3. Holds a Bachelor of Science Degree/ Diploma/Certificate in Nursing.

4. Be a registered and licensed member of the Nursing Council of Kenya, and in good standing.

5. Have a valid Police Clearance Certificate.

6. A minimum of 2 years of nursing continuous work for nurses with Degrees.

7. No experience for nurses with Diplomas qualifications ( fresh graduate required)

8. A minimum of one year of continuous work experience for nurses with Certificates.

9.  Be proficient in writing and speaking of English language.

10. Medically fit

12. Hold a valid Kenyan passport.

13. Prometric Test: Must have valid Prometric results, if not, the same can taken either in  Kenya OR KSA, ( Prometric test cost to be deducted from employee’s salary in 3 instalments)

14. Dataflow verification report for the education certificate, Nursing Council License, or latest employment certificate.

Qualified persons are advised to send in their applications through the National Employment Authority.(NEA) online portal.
