Tanzanian superstar Zuchu is set to take center stage at the CHAN 2024 closing ceremony, where she will perform alongside Uganda’s Eddy Kenzo and Kenya’s Savara in what promises to be one of the most spectacular finales in the tournament’s history.
The grand event will take place on Saturday, August 30, at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, as Morocco faces Madagascar in a historic final.
Zuchu, born Zuhura Othman, shared the exciting news with her millions of fans on Instagram, confirming her role in the star-studded entertainment lineup.
Known for her captivating stage presence and chart-topping hits, the Bongo Flava queen will represent Tanzania on the continental stage, showcasing the country’s vibrant musical culture.
Joining her is Eddy Kenzo, one of Uganda’s biggest music exports, whose energetic performances and international acclaim guarantee an unforgettable show. Kenya’s very own Savara, formerly of the celebrated group Sauti Sol, will not only perform live but also celebrate his contribution as the producer and composer of the CHAN 2024 official anthem, Pamoja. The anthem, featuring Ugandan singer Elijah Kitaka and Tanzanian star Phina, set the perfect tone during the opening ceremony and has become the soundtrack of the competition.
While Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania exited the tournament at the quarter-final stage, their presence will be strongly felt on the stage, as music and culture take over to unite East Africa in a celebration of talent and heritage.
The performances are expected to electrify the atmosphere at Kasarani, where thousands of fans will gather to witness both the final match and the closing ceremony.
The football side of the competition has been equally thrilling. Morocco and Madagascar battled their way to the final after dramatic semi-final wins on Tuesday, August 26. Their clash promises to deliver a gripping conclusion to a tournament that has kept fans across Africa on the edge of their seats.
Beyond football, CHAN 2024 has sparked lively online banter among fans, particularly between Kenyans and Tanzanians. After Kenya’s Harambee Stars were eliminated in the quarter-finals, Tanzanian supporters poked fun at their northern neighbors only for Morocco to send Tanzania packing just hours later.
Kenyans quickly responded with memes, turning the rivalry into a lighthearted exchange that added an extra layer of excitement to the tournament.
As the curtain falls on CHAN 2024, all eyes will be on Zuchu, Eddy Kenzo and Savara to deliver a performance worthy of the occasion.
Their presence marks not only a musical celebration but also a testament to East Africa’s growing influence in shaping the cultural heartbeat of the continent.
