Are you a film series maniac? Here are the effects of watching continuously

In the past, watching a movie would take you an hour, an hour
and half, or two hours and above if it is lengthy. That changed when film companies
started producing series, which entail seasons and episodes. This has caused viewers
to get hooked on their screens always looking forward to the next seasons and
episodes with excitement and lots of expectations as events unfold.

Series take years to produce. For example the Big Bang Theory comedy has 12 seasons,
which took 12 years to reach the last finale.

What are the effects of being a film series maniac? If you are
a fanatic already, you have probably watched several series at a go. One of the
things you will experience is mixing up plots and characters when narrating it
to your friends. Anyone who loves movies should have noticed repetitive ideas
in film, which lead to confusion sometimes. Besides, you may find the same
actor in several films you watch causing you to mix up storylines. It is
understandable. Some actors look alike.

One mistake a series enthusiast can ever do is downloading
several of them and expecting to watch them all at once. The anticipation will
‘kill’ you. This is when you find yourself spending all weekend indoors eating
junk food crisps, popcorns, crisps, biscuits and the like because do not have
time to cook. If you have a child to care for, it is unfortunate that you could
get ‘absorbed’ into the film and forget that you little one needs a diaper
change or food.

The other effect is waking up with a ‘hangover’. It is one of
a kind. You will probably watch overnight until morning. You set your laptop next
to your bed or lie comfortably on the coach and watch from your TV screen. When
your mind is satisfied that it has had enough, you get up and everything around
you looks messy. Time is up, the weekend is over, and you have done nothing
constructive other than enjoying fiction scenes in series. Your eyes do not
want to look at the screen anymore. It is the kind of hangover you ‘wake’ up to
swearing never to binge watch again.

VLC player has a setting that lets you fasten the pace of a
video. It is unlikely to notice the change. Doing so ensures you take less time
watching saving you time for the next film in line. The other thing you could
find yourself doing is forwarding the film to interesting parts especially when
it does not have a complex flow of events.

 Being a movie maniac
is a type of addiction. Without control and discipline, you will find yourself
compromising and watching at the expense of other activities in your life. However,
when you watch several series at a go, the desire lowers and you are able to
focus on crucial aspects of your life until the next time you yearn for binge
watching.
