Nairobi, Kenya — The world has warmly embraced Kenya as the planet’s most welcoming destination, according to the latest ranking by Condé Nast Traveller.

In its 2025 Readers’ Choice Awards, Kenya surpassed all other nations with an impressive score of 98.46%, securing the top spot on the “friendliest countries in the world” list.
The ranking was based on traveller votes across multiple categories, measuring how warmly visitors are received, and the Kenyan people now stand out for making guests feel completely at ease.
The report highlighted that Kenya’s hospitality shines not only in its iconic wildlife safaris, where guides help visitors relax amid the wilderness, but also in its vibrant cities and relaxed coastlines.
The announcement stirred pride across the country, with tourism industry players noting that global travel has rebounded strongly post-pandemic, and Kenya’s reputation for both spectacular wild scenery and welcoming people adds a powerful angle for marketing the “Magical Kenya” brand.
Tourism officials say the accolade reflects a people-first approach – emphasising not only scenic vistas but also genuine hospitality.
The European Union Ambassador to Kenya, Henriette Geiger, welcomed the ranking, describing it as ‘black on white’.
“Now we have it black on white: Kenya was voted by 98.46% of travellers as the world’s friendliest travel destination in the Condé Nast Choice Awards 2025,” said Geiger.
Geiger noted Kenya’s advantage over other tourist hotspots such as Mauritius, Seychelles, Barbados, Mexico, and Thailand as the most welcoming country.
Analysts say the tourism sector must ensure that service levels meet the high expectations set by the ranking.
Similarly, foreign partners will observe whether Kenya builds on its warm image by improving infrastructure, connectivity, and the ease of doing business.
For visitors attracted by this accolade, Kenya offers a multi-faceted experience: the excitement of wildlife safaris, beachside relaxation on the Indian Ocean coast, and the vibrant energy of Nairobi’s nightlife.
