A section of a road bridge in Naivasha was partly cracked following Sunday earth tremor experienced in some parts of the country.
Police reports indicate that investigations into the damage are ongoing and motorists have been urged to use a different road.
Naivasha Traffic Commandant Samuel Kimaru confirmed that traffic has been diverted from using Fai Mario road bridge which has developed cracks.
A 2-kilometer-fault line sparked Moi Ndabi area around Naivasha last year, forcing families to move to higher places.
According to the MET department, the epicenter of the the tremor was identified at Wunadayi in Taita Taveta sub County.
Other areas that recorded the tremor include some parts of Nairobi, Kiambu, Machakos, Mombasa, Nyeri, Makueni, and Naivasha.
An earlier alert had warned residents at coastal areas to move uplands but the MET department said there is no risk at the coast as the magnitude was small.
The department went on to caution people on safe areas to be in case a similar incident occurs with a wider magnitude, directing open places away from tall building and country side with no land slide problems as safe areas.
The quake also occured in some other parts of the world including Spain and Moluccas Indonassia.
In Indonassia, a magnitude 6.3 earthquake struck off Indonesia’s Moluccas Islands, according to the US Geological Survey.
The quake struck in the sea, 147 km (92 miles) northwest of the city of Ternate and at a depth of 76.5 km.
Reuters report said there were no immediate tsunami warnings and no immediate reports of damage.
In last year, a quake-and-tsunami disaster killed more than 2,000 people on Sulawesi.
