The inaugural event was held at Kisumu International Airport graced by Kenya Airports Authority Chairperson Caleb Kositany, Kisumu Deputy Governor Mathew Owili, and Safarilink CEO Alex Avedi, among other industry stakeholders.

In a statement, Safarilink expressed excitement for the new route, citing its dedication to offering efficient, reliable flights.

“Safarilink is proud to announce the launch of its enhanced service connecting Nairobi, Kisumu, and Entebbe…Designed to support both business and leisure travellers, the new service provides convenient morning flights daily and will be complemented by an additional afternoon service on select days from January 2026.”

According to the airline, the schedule will enable smooth same-day connections between Wilson Airport, Kisumu International Airport, and Entebbe International Airport, therefore opening greater access to Uganda’s capital region from Nairobi and western Kenya.

The introductory fare for the Kisumu-Entebbe flight is set at $110 (Ksh 14,185.60)

An integral regional  service

Apart from fostering connectivity in the East African region, the new route will offer more convenience for passengers by ensuring more seamless transportation.

“This new service not only strengthens the Nairobi-Kisumu-Entebbe corridor but also enhances onward travel opportunities across the region. Travellers from Entebbe can now conveniently connect through Nairobi to Kenya’s renowned beach destinations, including Diani, Lamu, Malindi and Zanzibar. Additionally, the route supports seamless travel from the Masai Mara via Migori into Kisumu, enabling smooth onward connections into Uganda,” the statement added.

On his part, Safarilink CEO Alex Avedi stated that the flight route will support tourism and business operations in the region, fostering economic growth.

“The launch of this service reinforces our commitment to improving regional accessibility while providing our passengers with dependable and convenient travel options. By connecting Nairobi, Kisumu, and Entebbe, we are enhancing tourism flows, supporting commercial exchange, and strengthening historical community ties across East Africa,” he expounded.

Commenting on the development, Kisumu County Governor Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o stated that Safarilink’s new venture will play a crucial role in propelling the region’s economic sector.

“Safarilink Airlines today officially launched the Kisumu-Entebbe route, linking Kenya and Uganda 45 minutes apart through air across Lake Victoria. This will boost trade, tourism, investment, and cultural exchange, reinforcing Kisumu as the key gateway to East and Central Africa,” he stated.

Kenya Airports Authority’s commitment to growth

The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) has applauded Safarilink’s new route, saying it will provide an additional avenue for individuals and businesses in the region to travel and conduct business.

“As KAA, this partnership underscores our commitment to opening new routes, expanding travel options for passengers, and unlocking fresh opportunities for tourism, trade, and investment for the people of Kisumu, Kenya and the wider region.”

Safarilink is Kenya’s premier safari airline with a network of connecting domestic scheduled services to all the best safari destinations within Kenya, Tanzania, Zanzibar, and now Uganda.

According to its website, the airline operates over 30 flights daily and has 14 aircrafts in its fleet.

It offers flights to multiple locations, including Amboseli, Diani, Kilimanjaro, Kisumu, Mombasa, Nairobi, Malindi, Nanyuki, Zanzibar, Lamu, and Lewa Downs.
