KISUMU, Kenya – More than 300 elite cyclists will converge in Kisumu for the Confederation of African Cycling (CAC) Championship 2026.
The event, which will take place between October 21 and 25, attracts cyclists from more than 30 African countries who will ‘cycle it out’ across 15 thrilling race categories.
The competition returns to Kenya for a third consecutive year, following the CAC Road Cycling Championships in Eldoret 2024 and Kwale 2025.
Kisumu County Governor Professor Anyang’ Nyong’o welcomed the championship, saying it will be a major boost to the county’s economy.
“Our hotels, restaurants, and hospitality sectors will bloom! Jobs and networking opportunities for our young people, from event management to transport, catering, security, and beyond.
“We project over 1.8 million social media impressions and close to 90,000 engagements. Kisumu’s name shining on the global stage like never before!” said Nyong’o.
Nyong’o noted that the competition will revive tourism in the Lake City, bringing it to the world stage.
The governor noted that a social fun ride will be open to the public, inviting residents to dust off their bicycles and, bring their family, friends, and neighbours.
“My heartfelt gratitude goes to the Kenya Cycling Federation for choosing Kisumu and trusting Dala to host Africa. The world is coming. Let us welcome them the Kisumu way with warmth, pride and unstoppable energy!”
