Deputy President William Ruto has finally cleared the air on
the Sh39 billion arms scandal surrounding his office.

Ruto called the office of the Director of Criminal Investigation,
urging them to conduct the ongoing investigations quickly to come to the root
matter of the scam.

Through his spokesperson, David Mugonyi, the DP said he is
ready to cooperate and that his office will give the necessary support to DCI
detectives.

The fake military arms tender involves his close ally and former
Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa, who was arrested on Friday and taken to
JKIA court.

Echesa was charged with defrauding foreigners of Sh39
billion promising he was in a capacity to award

them a Ministry of Defender tender.

Others who were later arrested in connection with the case include
Kennedy Mboya, Daniel Omondi AKA General Juma and Clifford Onyango.

The four are charged with 12 counts of fraud related to the
Military arms tender.

The Deputy President has been linked with the scandal after
his Annex office was used to conduct a meeting held by Echesa and the
foreigners.

It is not clear why a former Cabinet Secretary, who was
fired by HE Uhuru Kenyatta and replaced with Amina Mohammed could access to
such a high office.

Over the weekend, netizens accused the DP for being the
master mind behind Echesa’s secret meetings with foreigners.

Leaders have called upon the DP to resign, to pave way for
smooth investigations into the matter.

COTU Secretary General, Francis Atwoli said the Deputy
President cannot pretend and that he

must always be aware of all businesses and meetings
conducted in his office.

In a letter send to newsroom, Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu
asked the DP to step aside to pave way for

investigations.

“The Deputy President should stop hoodwinking Kenyans
through tweets and do the honorable thing, STEP ASIDE and let investigations to
be conducted in an impartial environment.”

DP Ruto took to his twitter handle to answer his critics and
clear his name from the whole saga.

He accused his political enemies for campaigning to taint
his name by dragging him into scandals.

“ODP does not procure for any ministry/department. Question:
Other than 23 min (Minutes) in Annex, for months, which government offices
involved in the tender did the scammers visit? Who did they meet? Get the
truth. Forget the sponsored NONSENSE in media,” said the DP on his twitter
handle.

DCI detectives have launched investigations into the matter.
