Unai Emery, former Arsenal boss, has denied the English Premier League leaders three points in the Saturday clash at Villa Park.

Emery has, since taking a coaching role at Villa Park in October 2022, made difficult times for the Gunners.
Arsenal’s hopes of extending their lead at the top failed to materialise after Aston Villa put on a five-star performance throughout the game.
The epic match, played on Saturday, December 6, 2025, was not a stroll in the park for Mikel Arteta’s side, which was in good form after going 18 games without defeat across all competitions.

After 36 minutes of play in the first half, the Villans through Matty Cash a leading goal. The Gunners responded aggressively early in the first minutes of the second half when Leandro Trossard equalised.
The Gunners tried to get another breakthrough but failed repeatedly because of Aston Villa’s solid defence. The whirlwind attacks were witnessed from both sides because each team was looking for an opportunity to keep the winning English Premier League trophy wish alive.
At the stoppage time, Emiliano Buendia unleashed his world-class skills after he scored a dramatic goal to earn the host all three points.
Mikel Arteta, who is the Gunners’ coach, didn’t hide his disappointment: “The manner in which it happened at the end was really difficult to take.

“In the second half, we were dominant after scoring the goal, but had periods where we allowed too much space. Then at the end there is some chaos in the box, and we end up losing the game. It’s painful.”
After getting a victory, Aston Villa’s player expressed his happiness, given also that his side is showing title contenders’ traits. “Incredible, the feeling to score that goal and help the team to get the win, an important win against the table leaders,” said Buendia.
