Last night’s clash between Paris St-Germain (PSG) and FC Bayern at the Parc des Princes has redefined the history of the UEFA Champions League.

PSG beat Bayern Munich 5-4 in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final, putting the title holders 1 goal up, with the return leg scheduled for Wednesday, May 6, at Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany.
The 9-goal match thriller became the first UEFA Champions League semi-final in which both teams scored over 4 goals, and the highest-scoring semi-final in European Cup history after more than six decades, when Rangers lost to Eintracht Frankfurt (6-3) in 1960.

The first half of the match ended in a five-goal thriller, with PSG leading 3-2 against Bayern Munich.
Bayern Munich opened the match after Harry Kane scored in the 17th minute. However, the lead could not last for more than 10 minutes before PSG’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia equalised in the 24th minute.
Joao Naves put PSG in the lead at the 33rd minute, and in the 41st minute, Michael Olise scored a second goal for Bayern.
The man of the match, Ousmane Dembele, scored in the first-half stoppage time, before opening the second-half scoring at the 58th minute, putting PSG ahead with 5 goals.
Bayern Munich came back in the game with 2 goals in the 65th and 68th minutes through Dayot Upamecano and Luis Diaz, respectively.
The match ended in a 5-4 victory for PSG.
Should PSG or Bayern Munich qualify for the finals, they are likely to meet Arsenal.
