Humble return: Jose Mourinho set to return to Premier League

Former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is set for a humble return to English Premier League, reports the sun.

The Portuguese is said to have hinted at replacing his rival Rafa Benitez at the Geordies, whose contract ends June.

Reports shows that it may be difficult for Benitez to pen down another deal, owing to a deal that is yet to be finalized by the club owner Mike Ashley and billionaire Sheikh Khaled bin Zayed Al Nehayan.

The Sunday Mirror report that the new owner (Sheikh) is keen on former Chelsea and Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho.

The duo have been on the helm after Rafa took over from Mourinho at Inter Milan.

The rivalry continued in 2013 when Jose left Real Madrid, taking over from Benitez at Chelsea, and now the circle seems repetitive with the Portuguese keen on the Geordies following his work relation with Bobby Robson.

“I like to go there. I like the feeling of going to Mr Robson’s home. I like that feeling. I like the stadium. I like the atmosphere. They are a good, enthusiastic crowd. I like the Geordies.” read Mourinho’s quote by the sun.

The 56-year-old was axed from Old Trafford in December, after Ole Gunner Solskjaer took over, and has since then looked down on some offers including Real Madrid’s.

He dedicated the period he has been out to sports punditry.

Newcastle United is now at 13 place in the English Premier League after playing Fulham in last season matches.

The club has won the ninth-most elite honours (14) among English football clubs.
