Kenya Tea Development Agency (KTDA) Foundation has offered
secondary school fees scholarship dubbed ‘Fanikisha Maisha na KTDA National Tea
Scholarship,’ to facilitate education for needy students in the tea growing
areas.
In a notice
seen by News 9 Kenya, the foundation said it will grant secondary scholarships
to needy and bright students from tea growing areas, starting January 2020.
“We grant
scholarships to needy and bright students in KTDA tea growing areas for
secondary education. In 2020, the foundation will grant one scholarship in each
of the 69 KTDA managed factories,” read the notice in part.
According to
KTDA Foundation, students who scored a total of 350 marks and above in the 2019
KCPE examinations and come from a poor background can apply for the program
which has been enrolled and is ongoing.
The students
are required to fill downloaded application forms and submit a hard copy to the
Factory Unit Manager at the nearest KTDA -managed tea factory across the country,
not later than Tuesday 10th December 2019.
The
Foundation has so far sponsored 655 students through secondary school.
The scholarship
is designed to help bright but ?nancially challenged students in meeting their
school fees.
