Equity Afia has opened doors to its 13th clinic in Nairobi’s
Embakasi area, giving residents access to quality, affordable and comprehensive
healthcare services.
The new Equity Afia medical center is located at the Embakasi
Medical Centre, within Tassia estate, along Fedha Road near Tumaini
Supermarket.
In celebrating its launch, the medical facility will be
holding free medical camp from 16th March to 31st March 2020 and shall be
offering select services including diabetes & hypertension screening,
BMI measurement, nutrition consultation & counselling, and weight
management services.
Speaking at the launch ceremony, National Police Service
Director of Medical Services, Dr. John Kibosia recognized the role played by
the private sector in increasing access to quality and affordable medical
services to Kenyans.
Dr. John Kibosia who was the chief guest during the event
congratulated Equity Afia in complimenting the government in its efforts to
meet the universal quality, affordable and standardized healthcare pillar of
the agenda four.
He added that the Government supports partnerships and
efforts geared towards the achievement of Universal Health Coverage. Equity Afia
would be a great partner in offering quality and affordable healthcare services
for servicemen and their dependents as well as the community at large.
“We are happy that Equity Afia has responded to the needs of
most Kenyans and will complement the services offered by Government, faith-based
and other private medical facilities.” he said.
The clinics operating under Equity Afia franchise are
currently operational in the major towns of Nairobi, Nyeri, Kiambu and Nakuru,
and is on a mission to expand strategically into the satellite towns of Nairobi
and eventually the whole country.
So far, the clinics are available in Ongata Rongai, Thika,
Buruburu, Kayole, Kawangware, Ruiru, Nyeri, Nakuru, Kahawa, Utawala, Kikuyu,
Nairobi CBD and now in Embakasi.
Equity Afia clinics have so far employed almost 200
full-time employees who have served over 160,000 patients.
Speaking at the event, Mr. David Nyamu, Director Marketing
at Equity commented saying the foundation has a database of over 350 alumni
with training in various areas within the medical field and they are determined
to invest in the improvement of the healthcare sector in Kenya.
“We hope to tap into this resource in an effort to increase
access to quality healthcare services,” said the Bank Executive.
On his part Mr. Gilbert Mureithi who doubles up as the
General Manager of Equity Afia challenged Medical professionals who have gone
through their programme to take the up the initiative to start the clinics.
“Our target is to open up 50 new clinics all over the
country if not more a number which can be surpassed with dedication and
commitment,” he noted.
Dr Anthony Kinyanjui, the CEO of the branch appealed for
more support from the community urging them to enjoy the efficient and
affordable service.
