A Nairobi socialite by the name Starlet Wahu Mwangi has been found dead in an apartment in Nairobi.
Her body was discovered in an Airbnb in the city and taken to City Mortuary.
CCTV footage revealed she checked into the Airbnb with a man on January 3 and they seemed alright.
A postmortem done on the deceased revealed she was stubbed on the head and there was a deep-cut wound on her thigh that caused her to bleed to death.
A security guard at the Airbnb raised alarm the following day when he saw the man Wahu was with the previous day leaving wearing bloody clothes.
The guard alerted the property owner who used a spare key to enter the Airbnb where they found Wahu’s lifeless body in the sitting room and contacted the police.
The murder scene
The police recovered a kitchen knife, two HIV test kits, and a used condom at the scene. There were also signs of struggle at the scene.
They also tracked the man seen with Wahu in the footage to a hospital in Nairobi where he had gone to seek treatment for injuries.
He claimed that Wahu had attacked him, leading to a fight that caused her death.
The authorities are looking into the motive behind the gruesome murder and the events leading to the incident.
Pastor Kanyari, who is Wahu’s family member, has expressed shock over her murder, saying he last saw her on December 31 last year.
Wahu was in the fashion business with an active presence on social media that flaunted her adventures in the industry.
Kenyans on social media have been taken aback by the details of Wahu’s murder, sharing their sentiments on the incident.
She will be buried today in Kamulu.
