As the world continues to battle the Covid-19, Kenya now has
50 confirmed cases of the virus. Nairobi
is the most affected county with 37 people infected and Kitui has joined the
list of counties affected having one case of Coronavirus.

In a press briefing to update Kenyans about Coronavirus in
the country, Cabinet Secretary for Health Mutahi Kagwe has urged Nairobi
dwellers not to travel upcountry to protect the elderly in rural areas who are
more susceptible to the Coronavirus. He also advised those in rural areas not
to travel to Nairobi, and if they do, they should maintain a social distance.

To protect boda boda operators and users, the CS has directed
riders and passengers to wear masks to protect themselves. Kagwe has also asked
boda boda associations leaders to oversee the implementation of this order,
adding that the police will also help in enforcing it.

He also stated that boda boda operators should carry one
passenger at a time to assist in keeping a protective distance, adding that the
government will distribute masks in all the counties.

The CS explained that cargo flights have not been restricted
from landing in the country saying that most of them are transporting medicine
and other things.

He added that the Ministry of Health had a meeting with the
Council of Governors, and additional measures to curb the virus will be
announced by the Ministry of Interior and the council.

Kagwe also told employers to release employees at 4pm in
efforts to adhere to the 7pm curfew.
