SportPesa Mega Jackpot winner Boniface Kamau says he is done with casual work after bagging Sh424,660,718 , one of Kenya’s biggest betting payouts.
Kamau was announced the winner on August 4, 2025, after correctly predicting the outcomes of 17 football matches.
Speaking during a celebration on Wednesday at JW Marriot, the long time bettor made it clear his working days are over.
“Job ni kama imeisha. Hio imeenda hivo,” he said .
loosely translated as, “The job is as good as done.”
Kamau, who has used the SportPesa platform for a decade, said the win will not stop him from placing wagers, but he intends to remain responsible. He also revealed plans, alongside his wife, to invest part of the winnings in community projects after taking time to reflect.
“She told me to go on a vacation and think about what I want,” he said, quoting advice from his mother.
SportPesa CEO Ronald Karauri congratulated Kamau and urged him to seek credible financial advice.
“There will be a lot of advice and not all of it will be helpful,” Karauri said.
Friends and family described Kamau as humble and composed despite his new-found fortune. He said his focus now is on planning carefully before making any major moves.
His win makes him the fourth person to hit the coveted Mega Jackpot since its inception and the first to do so in seven years.
Kamau’s triumph adds to a short but spectacular list of previous Mega Jackpot winners. The first was Samuel Abisai, who in April 2017 scooped Sh221,301,602. A month later, Daniel Rono, Geoffrey Keitany and Florence Machogu shared Sh111,176,374. Gordon Ogada took home Sh230,742,881 in February 2018, while September 2018 saw Cosmas Korir win Sh208,733,619
Since then, the Mega Jackpot had gone unclaimed until Kamau’s perfect streak ended the drought.
Kamau’s win not only cements his place in Kenya’s betting history but also reignites excitement for SportPesa’s Mega Jackpot — a competition that has now proven, once again, that big dreams can come true.
