NYANDARUA, Kenya – Outspoken Saboti Member of Parliament (MP) Caleb Amisi is set to unveil his political party as the country warms up to the 2027 General Election, even as sharp divisions emerge within the opposition.
The party identified as the People’s Renaissance Movement (PRM) was granted its registration certificate by the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP) in January 2026.

“30 days from today, countdown, we are launching the People’s Movement, the 11th of August, 2026, at ASK Ground, Jamhuri,” MP Amisi shared in a video seen by news9.africa.
In the video captured in Ol Kalou, where the youthful lawmaker has pitched a tent campaigning for the party’s candidate ahead of the parliamentary by-election, Amisi described the move to launch the party as a call for ‘our generation’.
“We are launching the People’s Movement to liberate the country economically – economic renaissance, economic recovery, economic justice,” explained the MP.
According to Amisi, every generation has risen and done what is needed to be done at that time.
“We are now being called upon as a generation, the fourth generation, the fourth liberation, to rise and do what needs to be done today. What needs to be done today is an economic renaissance,” he added.
Why the PRM party was established
Earlier, the party’s Interim Secretary General, Sarabhai Emmanuel, told news9.africa that PRM was established as a people-driven renaissance movement dedicated to revitalising Kenya’s democratic culture, promoting inclusivity, and fostering issue-based leadership.
Sarabhai disclosed that the PRM’s identity is based on rallying citizens behind ideas, principles, and workable answers to national concerns, even though it is registered within the legal system governing political parties.
Speaking to news9.africa after receiving the certificate, Sarabhai maintained that the new political outfit is against the politics of division and exclusion and instead embraces Kenya’s diversity as a strength.
“The movement brings together youth, professionals, workers, entrepreneurs, women, and marginalised groups with a shared commitment to justice, opportunity, and accountable governance,” said Sarabhai.
Sarabhai, who has been previously associated with the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), revealed that the PRM’s party recognises the pressing challenges currently facing Kenyans—including the high cost of living, unemployment, inequality, and governance deficits.
“As a party, we affirm our intention to contribute constructively through policy development, civic engagement, and peaceful democratic participation,” added Sarabhai, who doubles up as the founder of the newly registered political outfit.
MP Caleb Amisi storms Ol Kalou
This weekend, MP Amisi once again stormed Nyandarua County, intensifying grassroots political mobilisation in Ol Kalou to campaign for Timothy Kariuki Kariuki.
Kariuki, a young parliamentary aspirant, is vying for the hotly contested race under the PRM ticket ahead of the July 16, 2026, mini-polls.
“In Ol Kalou, drumming up support for Gen Z candidate Timothy Kamau Kariuki. Kenya Needs A Renaissance!” Amisi posted on his official X account (formerly Twitter) while interacting with residents of Ol Kalou.
On Saturday, July 11, 2026, Amisi announced that he had embarked on a meet-the-people tour across the constituency in support of Kariuki.
“My 4th meeting today: supporting Gen Z unapologetically. Ol Kalou ni #Wantam. Kenya needs a renaissance!” the MP allied to the Senator Edwin Sifuna-led ‘Linda Mwananchi’ political faction further said.
Before starting a meet-the-people trip around the constituency in favour of Kariuki, Amisi attended a church service at PCEA Mirangine on Sunday, June 7, 2026.
How MP Caleb Amisi was linked to PRM
The vocal MP claimed that he was motivated by the candidate’s modest campaign strategy, especially his alleged employment of a donkey during events, which Amisi claimed was similar to his own early political experience.
“After church service, we will carry out a meet-the-people exercise within the area in support of a very young leader, Timothy Kamau Kariuki, who has decided to stop complaining and present himself for the MP position,” Amisi said.
news9.africa knows that these moves hinted at Amisi’s links to the PRM, which had been earlier linked to the ‘Linda Mwananchi’ faction of ODM, only for the movement to deny any association with the newly formed party.
A well-known representative of the ‘Linda Mwananchi’ caravan, Abigael Gikonyo, recently resisted attempts to associate the PRM party with the Sifuna-led movement.
Gikonyo’s comments were a reaction to remarks made on Saturday, June 5, 2026, by Sophia Mugure, the leader of the PRM youth league and one of the co-founders of the “Niko Kadi” slogan. Mugure had suggested that PRM would be the political vehicle used by the ‘Linda Mwananchi’ movement in the lead-up to the 2027 General Election.
On Saturday, June 6, 2026, Gikonyo argued in a forceful rejoinder that PRM should be associated with Caleb Amisi rather than the Linda Mwananchi movement as a whole. She contended that all of the movement’s founders would have openly supported the choice by now if the party had really been chosen as its preferred political organisation.
Linda Mwananchi’s tour of Ol Kalou
This comes when the ‘Linda Mwananchi’ political movement has abruptly cancelled its planned political tour in Ol Kalou Constituency, shifting its Sunday, July 12, 2026, rallies to Nyahururu Town.
Former Deputy President and Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua publicly warned the movement to keep off Ol Kalou. He insisted that the ongoing by-election campaigns should be left entirely to local leaders.
‘Linda Mwananchi’ spokesperson Caroli Omondi stated that they received intelligence of planned state-sponsored violence against their convoy. They alleged that the chaos was choreographed to give the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) an excuse to postpone the July 16, 2026, parliamentary by-election.
Political analysts and DCP insiders suggested that Murang’a Governor Irungu Kang’ata intended to use the Ol Kalou rally to launch his own Mt. Kenya kingpin ambitions without consulting local regional leaders.
Meanwhile, news9.africa understands that the planned launch of the PRM party comes when political parties in the country are actively preparing for the 2027 elections by strengthening grassroots structures and conducting internal leadership elections.
These efforts reflect a broader trend of party mobilisation ahead of national elections, supported by institutions like IEBC and ORPP. Such preparations ensure organisational readiness and help define party platforms early.
