BUNGOMA, Kenya – Cheptais Ward MCA aspirant in the 2027 elections, Amos Chemabus, has expressed displeasure with a section of Bungoma County politicians, whom he accused of allegedly denying the Mt Elgon region development projects.
“I wish to strongly and unequivocally opposition to the recent sentiments expressed by certain politicians in Bungoma County who are against the proposed construction of five crucial roads in the Mt. Elgon region,” said the vocal politician.

He singled out specifically Bungoma County Gubernatorial Aspirant, Zachary Barasa, on what he termed as misguiding and disrespecting the people of Mt. Elgon.
“To stand against a project that is poised to uplift our community is to stand against progress, development, and the collective well-being of our people. Such rhetoric is a clear demonstration of a leadership deficit that fails to prioritise the needs of all constituents equally,” added Chemabus.
While recently appearing on a national radio station, Barasa lamented why Mt Elgon was given more roads earmarked for construction, yet Bumula Constituency was not given any road.
His remarks were questioned by residents of Mt Elgon who sought to know if the businessman was interested in vying for the gubernatorial position in the entire Bungoma County or if that was inclusive of Mt Elgon or his Bumula Constituency.
What is the Strategic Importance of the Mt. Elgon roads?
Chemabus further observed that Mt.Elgon is an integral and productive part of Bungoma County.
“As the region’s primary agricultural zone, its development is synonymous with the development of the entire county and the Western Kenya region.
