This comes when KPA’s digital payment platform, KARGOPAY, clinched the runner-up position in the Innovative Management Award category at the 44th edition of the African Association for Public Administration Management (AAPAM) roundtable conference 2025 held in the Kingdom of Eswatini, beating dozens of entries from across Africa.
Why should the public administrators embrace innovation?
Out of 49 submissions across Africa, only six finalists showcased their initiatives geared to transforming public service delivery. This year’s conference theme was “Agile Public Administration: Partnership and Digital Transformation for Citizen-Centric Service Delivery”, aimed at spotlighting organisations and individuals making meaningful strides in efficiency, transparency, and accountability within the public administration sector.
Addressing the participants, the AAPAM President, Dr. John Nakabago, acknowledged the important role public administrators play in streamlining the public sector service delivery. Additionally, he encouraged them to embrace innovation and citizen feedback to drive continuous improvement.
Principal Secretary of the State Department for Cabinet Affairs, Dr. Idris Dokota, was among the notable high-ranking government officials who joined the KPA team to celebrate the victory.
“The prestigious award underscores KPA’s unwavering dedication to innovation as a cornerstone of its port operations efficiency. It also reflects the Authority’s broader vision of building a resilient, efficient, and customer-focused organisation,” KPA said in a statement.
