NAIROBI, Kenya – On Sunday, March 22, 2026, Kenyans learnt about the mysterious disappearance of former Cabinet Secretary Raphael Tuju.
This was after his family and lawyer reported his disappearance to authorities, after efforts to track his location proved futile from Saturday afternoon.

His family said that Tuju was scheduled to appear for an interview with Ramogi FM on Saturday night but never returned home, and his phone has been off since.
Tuju’s mysterious disappearance has sparked concern in political circles, especially from his Luo Nyanza backyard and among the public, prompting calls for transparency from security agencies.
Reacting to the matter, vocal Saboti Caleb Amisi called on Kenyans to rise to the occasion and condemn injustices in the country.
“They came for the affordable housing from the poor middle class. You did not speak because you were a dynasty.

They came for the #GenZ, abducted, imprisoned and killed many; you still did not speak because you are a baby boomer,” he said.
Taking to his official X account (formerly Twitter), the outspoken youthful lawmaker went on.
“They then came for Kina, Caleb, Amisi and Linda. Mwanachi team, you did not speak because you are the blue band in the broad-based government. Then they came for media reporters, influencers, TikTokers, artists, and civil societies; you did not speak because you are #Tutamdamu.”
On the missing former CS, Amisi, elected on the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party ticket, writes:
“They have come for #Tuju; you did not speak, you can’t speak, you won’t speak, and you do not want to speak because you are just an ordinary Kenyan, and it does not concern you. Then they came for you, and there was no one left to speak for you. Kenya needs a renaissance that will speak for everyone!”
Raphael Tuju’s lawyer on his client’s mysterious disappearance
While addressing the press at Entim Sidai Hotel in Karen, Nairobi, Paul Nyamondi-Tuju’s lawyer, flanked by PLO Lumumba, family and friends, confirmed that the family had filed a missing person report at Karen Police Station.
According to Nyamondi, Tuju’s mobile phones have remained switched off since Saturday night, which he disclosed was highly unusual.
Nyamondi further said that his client was scheduled to appear on an evening radio show, but did not.
Tuju’s mysterious disappearance has sparked concern in political circles, especially from his Luo Nyanza backyard, and among the public, prompting calls for transparency from security agencies.
The DCI has called on members of the public who may have information regarding Tuju’s whereabouts or who may have seen him, his vehicle or suspicious activity in the Miotoni Lane or greater Karen area before, on or after March 21, 2026, to come forward.
