Aliou Cisse whose side was grouped in Group C, comprising Gambia, Guinea and Cameroon, called 27  Senegalese players to help The Tarenga Lions defend the AFCON title.

Terenga Lions Captain, Sadio Mane, who is both a Liverpool and Bayern Munich player but currently playing for the Saudi Arabia-based team, Al Nassr, also expressed his optimism on his side defending Africa Cup of Nations but didn’t ruled out  that  the level of competition in this year’s tournament will skyrocket and prove to be the most challenging  edition yet – as reported by Goal.com

Ghana to miss services of Thomas Partey in AFCON 2024 clash

Meanwhile, Arsenal’s midfielder Thomas Partey will not be able to help his country Ghana in the fight to try to win their fifth Africa Cup of Nations title.

Ghana last won the cup in 1982 after doing so in 1963, 1965 and 1978.

The Gunners star has suffered a hamstring injury since October last year, an injury he picked up in training ahead of his team’s Champions League away game against Sevilla.

“This is the biggest injury he has had, the most important thing for me as a head coach and our association is to give him the support that he needs through this period. Withstanding his injury, he certainly would be in the squad.” Said Chris Hughton, Black Stars head coach.
