London protest over George Floyd murder

Hundreds of London residents on Sunday gathered along the
streets across American Embassy, protesting against George Floyd death.

Sky News report that the protestors took part in
demonstrations in the capital’s centre despite lockdown restrictions, following
a night of protests in the US.

Several cities across the US were impassable for the better
part of the weekend with residents demonstrating over the death of George
Floyd, an unarmed black man.

Nearly 1,700 people have been arrested across 22 cities.

Protests have spread to European cities, including London
where hundreds have gathered despite coronavirus restrictions.

US President Donald Trump is reported to be optimistic of
the tougher measures employed by law enforcers in the protests.

The president on Friday said that he is sympathizing with
the family of the diseased, adding that there was no excuse.

“I just expressed my sorrow… that was a horrible thing to
witness… it looked like there was no excuse,” said Trump.

However, Floyd’s brother, Philonise Floyd, dismisses President
Trump saying that he gave him little chance to express his views and appeared
to have no interest in what he was trying to say, during their conversation.

“He didn’t give me an opportunity to even speak. It was
hard. I was trying to talk to him, but he just kept, like, pushing me off, like
‘I don’t want to hear what you’re talking about,” said Philonise.

He added that, “And I just told him, I want justice. I said
that I couldn’t believe that they committed a modern-day lynching in broad
daylight.”

The 46-year-old African American man was killed during an
arrest by police officers in Minneapolis last week.
