It was a relief for Jacque Maribe in Milimani Law Court when Justice Grace Nzioka acquitted her in Monica Kimani’s murder case.
Maribe was the second accused person in the trial that had over 30 witnesses with the first accused person being Joseph Irungu alias Jowie.
Speaking after the verdict, a relieved Maribe quoted the Bible verse John 8:32 “For you shall know the truth, and the truth will set you free”.
Dennis Itumbi has been by Maribe’s side since she was implicated in the murder of businesswoman Monica Kimani, who was found murdered in September 2018 in her apartment in Kilimani, Nairobi.
Through his X (formerly Twitter) account, Itumbi who is the Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) in the Ministry of Information, Communication, and Digital Economy said,
“I feel so vindicated! There was a rogue DCI boss called George Kinoti, who craved for headlines, and Jacque Maribe was a pawn in his unfortunate game of nonsensical play. It has been SIX years, a journey of shadows, where unjust chains sought to bind the spirit of a great friend, a charming personality, a friend I treasure much.”
To his friend Maribe he added,
“Jacque Maribe, like a phoenix, now you have only one duty, rise from the ashes, for time may be lost, but not the essence of your being. As your friends, our collective hands extend to hold you as you take the next steps. My good friend, Welcome back to the embrace of freedom. Let the record reflect that you have always been INNOCENT… I have no regrets that I stood by you.”
Itumbi also asked Maribe to go after the people who included her in the murder case, saying she “must not let them walk out of the mess without questions”.
Maribe was a rising star at Citizen TV where she worked as a news anchor before the murder of Monica tainted her career. She later left Royal Media Services and has been in and out of court after being accused alongside Jowie for allegedly murdering the businesswoman.
Justice Grace Nzioka today at Milimani Law Court read the verdict on the Monica Kimani murder case where Jowie was found guilty of killing her.
