Murder case hearing for Migori Governor Okoth Obado and his
personal assistant Michael Oyamo and Caspal Obiero, a clerk, has been pushed to
November 11, 2019.

Appearing before Lady Justice Jessie Lessit on Tuesday, in
apre-trial hearing, Governor Obado and his co-accused were sentenced to be
tried on December 2, 2019.

Reason

The prosecution said there are over 30 witnesses who will
testify during the hearing of the case, with only two protected witnesses called
during the trial.

Parties involved in the case will be required to argue
whether lawyers representing the victims’ family can cross-examine witnesses.

The Governor, Michael Oyamo and Caspal Obiero, were charged
with the murder of Rongo University student Sharon Otieno and her unborn baby
in September 2018.

The denied the charges and were released on cash bail after
spending time in police custody.

Sharon, who was 26-year-old, was killed her mutilated body
found dumped in a thicket in Oyugis, Homa Bay county.

Governor Obado became a suspect in the murder following DNA
analysis that showed the seven-month-old baby Sharon was carrying to be his.
