Why Amisi didn’t mark his birthday
Earlier, the lawmaker stated that he was unable to mark his day with a message after learning about the demise of former Cabinet Minister and Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo.
In an emotional post, Amisi said he will not host any celebration for his day in honour of Jirongo, whose life was cut short in a grisly road accident at Karai along Naivasha- Nakuru Highway.
“I was going to type happy birthday to me; then I woke up to sad news of the loss of Hon. Cyrus Jirongo through a terrible road accident. In this respect, therefore, I will not hold any form of celebration for my birthday today, ” Amisi wrote.
He mourned the departed politician as a decorated leader who expressed his views without fear and was loved by many.
“A very good man by heart, an astute long-time politician who told the government the uncomfortable truth. Loved by most of his friends and generous to the core,” Amisi mourned.
The vocal ODM lawmaker also called for an investigation into the death, following the issuing of a statement by the Climax Bus driver, who spoke before the police issued a full statement confirming the incident.
“A proper independent investigation must be carried out into this Karai accident. It is wrong for the driver of the Climax bus to come out first to speak before the police conduct and officially communicate on the incident,” he said.
