Netizens fault twitter for adding ‘story feature’ button

Social Media Platform Twitter has received both complaints
and insults from subscribers over its move to add a ‘story feature’ button.

Using the #RIPTwitter, netizens took to their handles faulting
twitter for the move, with some threatening to avoid using the site.

They argued that their call was for the social site to add
an ‘edit button’ feature, rather than adding the story feature.

“Twitter adding 24hrs
story function to it’s features at a time when all we need is an “edit tweet”
option in order to minimize the frustration of deleting tweets over small
errors. Rename this app to “Bomboclaat-Facebook” already #RIPTwitter” –reads
a twit from one subscriber Abdool Moh (@abdool_moh).

According to TechCrunch, Twitter started testing the version
of Stories sharing format known as “Fleets,” in Brazil on Wednesday 4, 2020.

The format, according to the social site, will let users
post brief content on their handle, and unlike Tweets, the Fleets won’t receive
Likes, Replies or Retweets, disappearing entirely after 24 hours.

Users could visit someone’s public Twitter profile and tap
to view their Fleets even if you don’t follow them. But their Fleet won’t
circulate Twitter’s network, show up in Search or Moments, and it can’t be embedded
on an external website, writes TechCrunch.

Fleets are meant to address one of the primary reasons why
users don’t tweet: they feel uncomfortable with Twitter’s public nature.

The stories format, which was first popularized by Snapchat,
can be found across other social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook,
WhatsApp, YouTube, among others.

However, a number of users feel that the move will make
company lose subscribers, who at one time unsubscribed from social networks
like Facebook and Instagram after introducing such a feature.

“It’s the end ‘Skull’!! Twitter will become like Instagram if this
