Nairobi, Kenya – SasaPay, a leading digital payments service provider, has waived the transaction fees for its platform users, providing financial relief for the next three months.

The company said the waiver will run until February 29, 2024, for all SasaPay-to-SasaPay transactions – including person-to-person transfers, business collections, business payouts to SasaPay users, and payments for bills/tills – will be exempt from charges.

The waived transaction amount is estimated to reach up to KSh 500,000, which is the standard user wallet limit, and KSh 600,000 for business wallets.

How to benefit from SasaPay transactions

Charges are only applicable for transactions involving external networks, deposits, or payments made outside the SasaPay ecosystem.

This initiative is designed to offer Kenyans the opportunity to experience the advantages of the SasaPay platform, making digital financial services more accessible and attracting new users.

Kenyans can now enjoy SasaPay products, such as ‘Split Bill’ which enables users to share the bill while enjoying time together, especially during this festive season, without worrying about transaction charges.

“SasaPay’s decision to eliminate all charges for the next three months is rooted in a strategic focus on user acquisition, financial inclusion, and heightened customer engagement. This initiative reinforces SasaPay’s brand as customer-centric, innovative, and enhances trust and loyalty among our customers,” said Ms Catherine Mwihaki, SasaPay Head of Customer Success and Marketing.

The company anticipates that the cost advantages, combined with a seamless and fee-free transaction experience, will result in increased customer loyalty.

Users are more likely to stay engaged with the platform, conduct additional transactions, and become advocates within their social networks, solidifying SasaPay’s position as a market leader focused on delivering tangible benefits and unparalleled value to its user base.

“As we embark on this journey, we welcome valuable user feedback to continuously improve our platforms and contribute to the financial well-being of our growing SasaPay community,” said Catherine.

SasaPay cash-back model

This followed SasaPay’s launch of a new cash-back model designed to empower business owners to reduce costs and bolster profitability.

The firm said Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) will receive compensation for collecting payments from customers via the flagship Lipa-Na-Sasapay platform, making transactions seamless.

The platform allows SMEs to earn a daily prorated cash-back at the rate of 1.2% per annum for using the SasaPay platform.
