Government curfew directive as 3 more cases of Coronavirus confirmed in Kenya

Kenya has three more confirmed cases of Coronavirus that
brings the national toll to 28.

In a statement issued from State House, President Uhuru Kenyatta,
has however stated that one Coronavirus patient has recovered from the disease. He added that the
government is enhancing quarantine and testing capacity on a daily basis.

Kenyatta has given an order that directs the national treasury
to move to parliament for approval of several relief, which include 100 percent
tax relief for gross monthly income earners of up to Ksh 24, 000, reduction of
income tax or PAYE from 30 percent to 25 percent, and reduction of turnover tax
from 3 percent to 1 percent effective April 1.

To free up money to combat the pandemic, Kenyatta has ordered
reduced salary of top government officials. The president and his deputy will
get an 80 percent salary cut, cabinet secretaries 30 percent, and principal secretaries
30%.

In efforts to control the spread of Coronavirus, the
president has urged Kenyans to reduce movement and congregating in large
groups. He also insisted that citizens should follow the guidelines of the
Ministry of Health

He also added that effective Friday March 27, there will be a
7pm-5am curfew for ordinary mwananchi except for essential and critical service
providers.
