Education Cabinet secretary Prof. George Magoha has called
upon students, parents and guardians to be content with national examination
outcomes, adding that getting poor results is not the end of life.
Speaking during the release of the 2019 Kenya Certificate
for Secondary Education (KCSE), Professor Magoha said that children should
accept and be proud of their results, citing examples of those performed poorly
in KCPE but emerged leaders in this year’s exam.
“Please whatever your child brings home appreciate it with
positive heart, this is not the end of life you never know what you will be
tomorrow… I would want every child to be celebrated irrespective of the result,
and every child should be proud of their results,” said CS Magoha.
Among those who performed well after failing in their KCPE
exams were Muchai Gachie who scored an
A- after getting 279 marks in the 2015 KCPE, Milkah Wanjiru scored B- with 179 marks in KCPE, Mwikali scored B- (199
marks in KCPE), Sharon Chepkoech scored
C- ( 183 marks in KCPE), Mbugua Machari (C+ ,KCPE 190 marks), Joseph Mwenda (C+,
KCPE 193 marks), and Muchai Gachie (C+,
KCPE 193 marks) –
The 2019 KCSE general performance improved according to the
CS, with 627 students scoring a mean grade of A, 5,796 scoring A- and 125,746 scoring
a mean of C+.
More than 600,000 candidates sat the November 4 to 27 test.
