Organic Technology Extension and Promotion of Initiative
Centre (OTEPIC) has dedicated its time and resources educating residents of
Lukhuna area in Kitale about the COVID-19 pandemic.
The initiative has put up tents at Bidii and Lukhuna areas to
sensitize residents on how to avoid further spread of coronavirus.
The tents have been set up along the road where residents can
wash their hands before getting into their homes.
“OTEPIC is an organization that deals with organic farming
and we are based in Trans Nzoia County. We have started to sensitize and
educate residents on the coronavirus pandemic by providing water and sanitizers
here for residents to clean their hands before going back to their homes. We
have one tent here in Lukhuna and another in Bidii,” said Gabriel Songora a
member of OTEPIC based in Lukhuna.
Health CS Mutahi Kagw, in one of his pressers, said fighting
the coronavirus is not a personal or government-based fight but ‘our unity will
defeat the disease.’

“We are here ensuring people wash their hands and guide them
on how to clean their hands –since it’s among the solutions and measures we
have in prevention from contracting the virus. We also look forward to
providing residents with gloves and masks,” he added.
This is a relief to the residents who have been crying foul
of acquiring personal sanitizers and face masks.
“We are grateful for this initiative as it will ensure the
best hygiene for residents. I also want
to call upon Kenyans to make it a culture to wash their hands even after the
pandemic,” said George Opiyo a resident of Lukhuna.
OTEPIC said it will continue servicing Lukhuna residents with
water until the COVID-19 pandemic is contained in the country.
